"John," the head of a household of four, contacted the Love INC office because his family had recently become homeless. They had spent the last month in a local motel after being evicted from their last rental home. and had used up most of their financial resources. John's wife is disabled and he is her caretaker. John and his family were invited to one of our local churches by a friend. While at church, he was referred to Love INC. Through the relationship built through Love INC and their new church, this family was able to receive assistance from many of Love INC's resources and other partner churches. They were provided temporary housing for a few nights, help with gas, food, referrals, PRAYER, pastoral support, and God even provided someone to temporarily take care of their dog for them for a few weeks. Four week later, the family has just rented a home a little outside of town and "John" is able to focus on the task of finding permanent employment and getting his wife the care she needs. Praise God. (Sept. 2007)
A recent parolee called Love INC for help with housing, food and help getting a California ID. One of our volunteers prayed with him to find a job. With the help of a Love INC Gap Ministry and his parole officer, he was provided funds to help obtain his driver's license, a church provided him a few days worth of food and he is able to stay part-time at the Rescue Mission. We received a call a few days ago that he just found a job! God is good. (Sept. 2007)
The Great Chicken Rescue
It is not everyday you get a call into the Clearinghouse in Merced with a request for help with farm animals…but recently we received one. A client called in with a request for food assistance, but while she had a caring volunteer on the phone she mentioned that she was very worried about the baby chickens that were left behind when her next door neighbors suddenly moved away. She asked if we knew someone that could come and help catch the chicks!
The caring volunteer on the phone was Andy from Central Presbyterian Church, and he said he would see what he could do. First, he called the county animal shelter to see if they could help. The young woman at the shelter said they don’t handle farm animals, but she would give him a hand after work if he could find a place for the chicks. Next, he called a friend who he knew owned a few chickens. She told Andy that she was down to only one chicken and could sure use a few more…she was lonely! He also checked with the property owner who confirmed the chicks were left behind by his tenants and he would love for them to be picked up. With a borrowed cage, a blanket, a basket and the young lady from the animal shelter, Andy showed up at the house ready to round up the chicks! In a crazy dash around and around the yard they caught several of the very scared chickens and delivered them to the lonely friend! The “Great Chicken Rescue” was a success thanks to Love INC and our wonderful volunteer! (March 2007
Watching the Lord work is always such an awesome experience. Recently, a client in need was matched with a person wanting to donate the same item. Now this happens on a daily basis in our office, but this was so special we want to share it with you!
An elderly handicapped lady was housebound and in need of a mobile chair. She had worn out the last one, and wasn't’t eligible for another one. We prayed with this lady and asked God to provide for this need. God sent a gentleman who had just lost his dad and had a mobile chair he wanted to donate! We were able to connect the two and the blessings began. She was like a small child on Christmas morning! The tears, joy and genuine gratitude was overwhelming, All praise was given to the Lord and all of our hearts were warmed! Thank You Jesus! (November 2006)
Thanks From Clients:
“I would like to thank you and your organization, Love INC, for being able to help my family during the holiday season. You matched our family perfectly with one of your sponsors. (The Sponsor) contacted me at the beginning of December and asked what my family's Christmas wishes and needs were. My kids and I did not expect such thoughtfulness in choosing their gifts. They even gave me a gift and a $40 gift certificate at Save Mart. I did not expect a gift. What a surprise I had! We had a wonderful Christmas!
(From a family who received furniture from Love INC)
"Thank you so much for the beautiful sectional sofa for our family. We love it. Now our family has a place to gather in the evenings. You were a blessing to our family." (August 2007)
Thanks From a Donor:
"Thank you for putting us in touch with "Sandra." It was such a blessing to meet this wonderful young woman. It was a blessing to be able to provide her and her children with the furniture and household items our daughter could no longer use. We simply called Love INC and were able to share Christ's love with Sandra. Thank you!" (August 2007)
