Your Help is Needed:
1. Donations for live & silent auction.
2. People to secure donations for the auction.
3. Desserts for the dessert auction.
4. People to buy (and sell) tickets.
Call Love INC if you can help!
It is not too late to call Love INC to adopt a family for Christmas.
Donors are still needy to provide gifts for needy children and/or meals for a family. You tell us what size family (# of children) you think you would like to adopt! We will provide you with a list of each child’s size, their interests, something they need and one thing they wish for.
A Sample Christmas Meal Basket could include:
Turkey or Ham, Stuffing Mix, Bag of Potatoes,
Vegetables, Canned Gravy or Gravy Mix, Rolls, Jell-O or Salad Mix, Dessert Ingredients.
Optional:
Toppings/Sauce for Ham, Canned Fruit, Relishes, Nuts & Holiday Candy,
Sweet Potatoes/Yams,
Hot Chocolate, Cider or Juice,
Option: Grocery store gift certificate

We were able to serve 65 (178 total in household, 104 children) families with Thanksgiving meals through Love INC this year. Praise God!
We would like to thank the following churches and individuals for their donations & time:
Central Presbyterian Church: Adopted 15 Love INC families
St. Paul Lutheran Church: Adopted 5 Love INC families
Shepherd of the Valley: Adopted 2 Love INC families
Holy Cross Lutheran: Adopted 6 Love INC families
We were also blessed with a donation of 57 turkeys! We combined those turkeys with regular donations from our Love INC food pantries at: Atwater Baptist, Atwater UMC, Creekside Evangelical Free, First Baptist Church, Gateway Church and UMC Merced to provide additional holiday blessings.
A special thank you to the following individual donors:
Peggy Carter, Susan McCall & sister, Betty Avery, Dee Near, Suzanne Michaelis, Amy Valladao, Donna Hall and Louise DeVries (for delivering all those turkeys).

ANGEL FOOD MINISTRIES
Love INC is very excited to be a partner in helping to introduce a new food ministry to Merced County. It is called Angel Food Ministry. Love INC will be facilitating an informational meeting in January to help get this program up and running because we see a true value to our church members as well as our Love INC clients and the general community as well.
Angel Food Ministries might be called a “shares or co-op” type program because participants order their monthly Angel Food boxes ($27.00—$30.00) from their local Church host site and return later in the month to pick up their boxes. Each box contains both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of $60.00. Generally one unit, or box of food assists in feeding a family of four for a week or a single senior citizen for about a month. There is no income limits or requirements but those on food stamps can use their EBT cards. A FINANCIAL UPDATE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Thank you so much to those of you that responded this year to our letters and requests for financial assistance this Spring when our financial need was very great. Thanks to your response and the two additional fundraisers we held this fall, we have been able to continue to operate at almost full capacity this year. At this time, we have our administrative assistant position unstaffed due to our finances, but are praying that God will provide the needed funds for this position at the beginning of the year. Other than that, we have been able to keep our Clearinghouse open M-F, respond to the increasing calls for help from community members, work with our churches as they serve the needy, coordinate services with agencies, and pay our bills. God is good!
However, we are not “out of the woods yet,” so to speak.
Please do not forget Love INC as we end 2008!
Every dollar you donate to Love INC stays here in Merced County and helps us to serve those in need.
All of our operations funding comes from donations received here in Merced County: from churches and individual donors. We have no City, County or Federal money that fund Love INC, nor would we solicit them. Love INC needs you . . .

SCOUTING FOR FOOD
Merced’s Cub Scout Pack 96, participated in the annual ‘Scouting for Food’ drive and donated their bounty to Love INC this year.
Creekside Evangelical Free Church’s food pantry was the grateful recipient.
Thank you so much to the Cub Scouts for their time and service to the needy of our community.
LOVE INC ANNUAL MEETING
MONDAY JANUARY 26, 2009
7:00 P.M.
Once a year, Love INC holds an Annual Meeting of its membership (that’s you!) for the purpose of adopting our budget, affirming our board of directors, reviewing annual reports, and conducting any other important business .
This meeting will be held on Monday, January 26, 7:00 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 520 W 20th Street, in Merced. We hope that every Love INC partner church will send a representative. Ask your pastor who will be attending from you church and prayerfully consider attending yourself.
A Special “Amen” to Yosemite Church
Simplify Project
I was truly blessed to spend two weekends with an amazing group of volunteers from Yosemite Church and its various ministries. I want to thank Larry Mitchell for answering the call to coordinate such a large event and the use of his time, energy, storage, and trailer. It was an honor to get to know each and every person who was there to help collect, sort, deliver, and store all the beautiful donations. To date, 13 Love INC families were blessed with items ranging from beds, coffee tables, bedding, dishes, chairs, clothing, shoes, and most importantly Christian Fellowship.

Classes Scheduled
Two Budget Counseling Classes are on the calendar for 2009.
The first six-week class will be held:
Jan. 29, Feb: 5, 12, 19, 26, and Mar 5
From 6:30-8:00 p.m.
The second series of classes is:
April 30, May 7, 14, 21, 28 and June 4
We still need budget mentors, child care providers, and volunteers to provide rides to and from the meeting place each week. Please prayerfully consider ways you can help in this important GAP ministry of Love INC.
